The Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida invites applications for one Visiting Assistant Professor position, beginning August 16, 2024. The appointment is limited to two academic years. The area of specialization is open, but special attention will be given to applicants whose research interests overlap with current faculty. The teaching assignment is 4 courses per year, 2 courses in the fall semester and 2 courses in the spring semester, and may include lower division course assignments (calculus, etc.). Participation in the department’s research activities is expected. A Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or the equivalent is required. Candidates with strong promise in research and teaching are encouraged to apply.

Over the past few years the University has made significant investments in faculty and infrastructure, adding hundreds of new faculty lines and upgrading classroom and laboratory facilities. The University is home to HiPerGator, one of the most powerful high-performance computers at a US public university (www.rc.ufl.edu/services/hipergator/), and recently added the new AI NVIDIA GPU SuperPod (https://news.ufl.edu/2020/07/nvidia-partnership/) in support of the AI initiative, which aims to expand the role of AI in higher education and research (https://ai.ufl.edu). All mathematics faculty and graduate students have access to HiPerGator computing through the Center for Applied Mathematics.
