PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University of Manitoba

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Manitoba invites applications from outstanding young researchers in the mathematical sciences for nomination for PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowships for the year 2016-2017 (the fellowship may be taken up at any time between 1 September 2016 and 1 January 2017). This fellowship is for one year and is renewable, contingent on satisfactory progress, for at most one additional year. Successful candidates will each be expected to teach two courses per academic year. The value of this fellowship at the University of Manitoba is $50,000 per year.

1. Ph.D. or equivalent awarded on or after 1 January 2014 (or expected to be awarded by 31 December 2017).
2. Research overlaps with the Department’s existing areas of research strength (successful candidates have to be nominated for the fellowship by one or more professors in the department).

How to apply:
Application process consists of two steps.

Step 1 (this should be done as soon as possible but no later than 15 November 2016).
Applications should be submitted by email to files are preferred). Applicants should submit
(i) curriculum vitae;
(ii) research statement;
(iii) publication list;
(iv) the name of the person or people in the department whose research overlaps with the applicants research areas (the applicant is encouraged to contact these people to discuss common research interests);
(v) contact information for at least three referees. Applicants should also arrange for letters of reference from the referees to be sent by email to;
(vi) information about teaching experience (if any).

Step 2 (deadline: 1 December 2016)
This should be done only after Step 1 is completed, and only if the applicant received a confirmation email from the PIMS-UofM Site Director that he/she will be nominated for this fellowship.
