Assistant Professor of Mathematics

Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term, Assistant Professor of Mathematics position to begin August 2017.

Responsibilities include teaching courses in Mathematics and Mathematics Education, participating in department and university activities, which may include curriculum development, program review, supervising university courses taught in regional high schools, and other outreach activities. Duties also include student advising, contribution to student growth and development, evaluating student performance, scholarly activity, and service to the University community.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's in Mathematics is required. Doctorate in mathematics or mathematics education is preferred.
  • Evidence of successful teaching is expected.
  • Applicants should have good communication skills and demonstrate strong commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated abilities/competence in instructional technology, including online instruction and commitment to interdisciplinary education is preferred.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for liberal education. The University is committed to fostering a global perspective. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from diverse backgrounds.
