The Department of Mathematics at the
Xavier University of Louisiana invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure-track
position at the assistant professor level beginning August 2021. The Department of Mathematics
offers majors in mathematics, statistics, and mathematics education.
The
ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in mathematical sciences. Applicants with ABD status are encouraged
to apply. The department is seeking
candidates that demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and advising
undergraduate students. Applications
are encouraged from applicants with a strong background in any current or
emerging areas of mathematics. The department is particularly
interested in candidates who have experience working with students from
diverse backgrounds, minimizing barriers, and increasing equity and
completion rates between members of different demographic groups.
Duties:
·Teach twelve
hours of any level of mathematics and/or statistics courses each semester
with emphasis on developmental and freshman-level courses. Mode of
instruction may include in-person, hybrid, remote, and/or any combination
thereof.
·Work on coordinating course
delivery as a team of instructors teaching different sections of the same
course.
· Be active in scholarly service by
seeking funding for course improvement with an emphasis on developmental mathematics.
· Advise undergraduate students including majors in the
department.
· Participate in service activities for the department,
university, and community.
