The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Wyoming (UW) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month tenure-track faculty position in Statistics. This position is set to begin August 2023. Job duties include teaching, research, and service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to conduct high level research, obtain extramural funding, work collaboratively with other scientists, and teach a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A competitive startup and salary package will be provided to the successful candidate.

The Statistics group at UW has expertise in Bayesian statistics, experimental design, hierarchical models, joint modeling, mathematical statistics, mixed models, statistics education, and survival analysis as well as research applications in the areas of biology, ecology, engineering, health, medicine, and social science. Exceptional candidates in all statistical research areas will receive full consideration. However, candidates are especially encouraged to apply who specialize in complex database management for statistics, large-scale data mining, machine learning (AI), high-performance statistical computing, advanced Bayesian methodology, spatial sampling and analysis, along with time-series and state-space models. Candidates must also demonstrate an ability to engage in interdisciplinary research in diverse scientific disciplines.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A PhD in Statistics or very closely related field is required by the start of the appointment date. Both teaching and research are important at the University of Wyoming, and the position requires dedication and proficiency in both areas.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to those applicants who can demonstrate the following:

Expertise in statistics and statistical methodologies, Superb communication skills, Excellence in teaching courses at the university level, Experience with statistical consulting, Potential for obtaining extramural funding, Capability to conduct interdisciplinary research, Development of a research program that addresses the needs of the department.
