The Mathematics Department, in the College of Arts and Sciences at Fairfield University, invites applications for one or more tenure track positions in Statistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in September 2024, pending final budget approval. We seek a highly qualified candidate with a PhD in Statistics or closely related field. We particularly need someone who can contribute to our applied statistics offerings, our statistics minors, and our graduate statistics courses.

Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is essential, as well as strong evidence of research potential. A commitment to pedagogical innovation and demonstrated excellence in using technology in the classroom is required.

The Mathematics Department is an active and collegial group of 20 full-time faculty members. The teaching load for this position is 3 courses (9 credit hours) per semester and consists of courses at the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) level. Class sizes are small and there are many opportunities for professional development. The Master’s program is an evening program and attracts a wide variety of students - secondary school teachers, eventual Ph.D. candidates, and people working in industry or business.
