Position Number: 00033493 The department of Mathematics & Statistics of the University of South Florida Invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in mathematics at the Assistant Professor level based at its St Petersburg campus. The start date of the position is August 8th 2023.

Minimum qualifications: The Department seeks accomplished candidates who can enhance our research and educational missions. The candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Mathematics or in a related area by the start date of the position. Successful candidates will have demonstrated potential for excellence in mathematics research and teaching, and a commitment to an inclusive environment and working with diverse communities.

Preferred qualifications: • Major contributions beyond their doctoral research; • While all areas of specializations are welcome, we are particularly interested in applications from candidates who complement our existing strengths in Applied Analysis or in Applied Algebra; • Record of excellent teaching and demonstrate a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education.

It is expected that all faculty be able to teach almost all of the core courses and some of the elective courses of the Pure and Applied mathematics program http://math.usf.edu/ug/ All faculty are expected to mentor graduate/undergraduate students.

Interdisciplinary research programs are strongly encouraged in the USF Mathematics and Statistics department. Our tenure and promotion process values collaborative research and teamwork, and many of the current faculty are engaged in collaborative research areas that include, but are not limited to Data Science, Cybersecurity, Medical Science, Marine Sciences, Nanotechnology, etc., within the college, and across the University. In particular, the successful candidate will receive substantial support for their research, including a reduced teaching load while on a tenure track and a competitive start-up research fund that may include funding for a postdoctoral fellow.
