The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Reading invites applications for a permanent Lectureship (equivalent of North American Assistant Professorship) in Pure Mathematics. The post is full-time, but flexible working arrangements can be considered.

You will have:

A PhD in mathematics; An established or developing profile of excellence in pure mathematics evidenced through publications in leading international journals combined with dedication to developing an international research profile in pure mathematics complementary to current interests within the Department; Knowledge of and ability to teach pure mathematics modules at UG and PG levels, coupled with an ability to develop your own teaching materials, methods and approaches to teaching; and Dedication to high-quality teaching and learning.

The Department is home to a number of research groups working in applied and pure mathematics and statistics including Pure and Applicable Analysis and Number Theory. We have strong interdisciplinary links through our Centre for the Mathematics of Planet Earth, and collaborative projects with other departments including Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy and Food Science.

UG students are enrolled on a range of programmes in which pure mathematics features across including our BSc Mathematics and MMath Mathematics as well as joint programmes with Computer Science, Economics, Henley Business School and Meteorology.
