The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Reading invites applications for a permanent Lectureship (equivalent of North American Assistant Professorship) in Statistics. The post is full-time, but flexible working arrangements can be considered.

You will have:

A PhD in statistics; An established or developing profile in excellence in statistics evidenced through publications in leading international journals; Knowledge of and ability to teach statistics modules at UG and PG levels; Enthusiasm and dedication to developing an international research profile in statistics complementary to current interests within the Department; Ability to develop own teaching materials, methods and approaches to teaching; and Dedication to high-quality teaching and learning.

The Department is home to a number of research groups working in applied and pure mathematics and statistics, the latter including Applied Statistics and Statistical Mechanics, Probability and Stochastic Analysis. We have strong interdisciplinary links through our Centre for the Mathematics of Planet Earth, and collaborative projects with other departments including Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Pharmacy and Food Science.

UG students are enrolled on a range of programmes in which statistics features including our BSc Mathematics and Statistics as well as joint programmes with Computer Science, Economics, Henley Business School and Meteorology.
