Morehead State University, located in Morehead, Kentucky, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, is recognized as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S. News & World Report. Morehead is a small town on the boundary of the Daniel Boone National Forest and offers excellent outdoor activities. The Department of Mathematics and Physics consists of eleven tenured faculty members in math, four in physics, two in science education, and eight instructors. Besides undergraduate degrees in math and physics, we offer special tracks in engineering, teaching, and a new program in actuary science. We are accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Mathematics or Assistant Professor of Mathematical Physics in the Department of Mathematics and Physics. The anticipated start date for this position is August 13, 2018.

Responsibilities: Teaches undergraduate courses in mathematics with a standard load of twelve hours per semester; advises students; engages in scholarly activities, including research with undergraduates, and professional development; participates in departmental and university service.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Mathematics or closely related discipline required and a passion for teaching. ABD’s with completion by May 2019 may be considered. Teaching experience and published research are desirable. Although all specialties will be considered, expertise in actuarial mathematics, mathematics education, or mathematical physics is desirable.
