NYTech’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Assistant Professor, Math, tenure-track located at the Long Island Campus, and with possible occasional teaching in New York City. Projected start date is Fall 2024.

Responsibilities Teach any math service courses and other advanced courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. Canidates are expected to mentor undergraduate research projects or perform equivalent activity, to maintain an active research program, and to provide service to the department, College of Arts and Sciences and NYIT. NYIT emphasizes interdisciplinary research and teaching. The faculty member will have the opportunity to develop and participate in new interdisciplinary initiatives with other STEM disciplines and contribute to our recently established major in Applied and Computational Mathematics. Qualifications

Must hold a PhD degree in Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Statistics or Data Science from a Mathematics Department at the time of appointment. Areas of greatest need and interest are for applicants with expertise in Statistics, especially in applied and computational statistics and statistical learning, and those areas of Applied Mathematics most relevant to computational science, operations research, optimization and data science applicable to mathematical (statistical) modeling, but exceptional applicants from all areas of pure and applied mathematics will be considered. Candidate must demonstrate excellence in research with prior publication record and a research plan demonstrating a continuing research program. Postdoctoral experience and a potential for securing external grants is preferred. Prior teaching experience or exposure to teaching during PhD/Postdoctoral years is preferred.
