At the University of Duisburg-Essen, in the Faculty of Mathematics, the following vacancy can be filled at the earliest possible point in time:

University professorship for "Algebraic Geometry" (Full professorship - salary level W3)

Successor (m/f/d) of Prof. Marc Levine

We are looking for applications by established mathematicians working in the field of Algebraic Geometry interpreted in a broad sense.

The successful candidate is expected to represent an active field closely connected to Algebraic Geometry in research and teaching. Her / his research will connect to and expand the research portfolio of the Essen Seminar for Algebraic Geometry and Arithmetic.

It is expected that the successful candidate is willing to participate in the joint activities of the Essen Seminar for Algebraic Geometry and Number Theory and to contribute to joint applications for third-party funding. Teaching graduate courses, in particular in ALGANT Master program and undergraduate courses, in particular in Algebra at the Faculty of Mathematics is part of the duties of the Professorship, depending on demand these will also include mathematics courses for other programs. As the basic courses are taught in German, the successful candidate is expected to acquire the ability to teach courses in German after an initial period of two years.

Publications in high-ranking, peer-reviewed publication organs are expected as well as experience adequate to the offered position in the implementation of self-acquired, competitive third-party funded projects, preferably DFG-funded or comparable projects.

The hiring requirements comply with § 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (HG).
