The School of Mathematics and Statistics (SMS), Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) invites applications for academic professional track faculty positions in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Applied statistics, Information and Computational Sciences.

We are looking for young scientists that are eager to play a committed role in all aspects of academic life, including research, teaching, and collaborations with other fields of science.

Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST), formerly named Nanjing Institute of Meteorology, was established in 1960 and enjoys the reputation as “the cradle of meteorological talents in China”.  Co-constructed by the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the Ministry of Education of China, the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and the State Oceanic Administration, the university is now on the list of China’s national “Double First-rate” universities and disciplines and is also included in the provincial high-level universities in Jiangsu province. It is ranked #468 in 2023 based on the world university rankings（U.S.News.)According to Essential Science Indicators released by Clarivate Analytics in May, 2023, Mathematics first ranked top 1% worldwide.

There are 104 full-time faculty members, including 22 professors, 52 associate professors at SMS.   The faculty members’ research covers a broad range of areas, including scientific computing, algebra and number theory, differential equations and dynamic systems, statistics and data science, etc.   More than 85% of our faculty members have extensive overseas study or work experience.

SMS has Jiangsu Provincial Applied Mathematics Center, Jiangsu Provincial International Joint Laboratory, Jiangsu Provincial Statistical Research Base, Jiangsu Provincial Foreign Expert Studio.    And SMS participates in the joint construction of the National Applied Mathematics Center.
