Trent University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Mathematical Finance in the Department of Mathematics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence July 1, 2023. This position will be located at the Trent Peterborough campus and is subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates are expected to have completed a PhD in mathematical finance or a closely related field. More generally, applicants who can demonstrate affinity with research questions in finance, and the potential for external funding for the same, are particularly invited to apply, as are those with industrial experience. Applicants should also demonstrate excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

A complete application package should include a cover letter, a statement of teaching experience, a curriculum vitae (including immigration status in Canada), a summary statement of current and prospective research interests (2 pages maximum), copies of relevant recent publications and three letters of reference, one of which directly addresses the teaching ability of the applicant. Mathematics is a dynamic department in the Faculty of Arts & Science. It offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Financial Science and Mathematical Physics (jointly with the Department of Physics & Astronomy), as well as Mathematics specializations in Statistics and Financial Mathematics. In addition, members of the department supervise graduate students through the Applied Modeling and Quantitative Methods (AMOD) graduate program, which offers both MSc thesis programs and course-based programs in both Big Data Analytics and Financial Analytics.
