Tenure Track Professor Specializing in Algebraic Geometry or Algebraic Topology Department of Mathematics (Beginning August 2022)

The Department of Mathematics at Millersville University welcomes applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor specializing in algebraic geometry or algebraic topology beginning August 2022 with opportunities for teaching upper-level undergraduate courses in pure mathematics including but not limited to geometry, abstract algebra, and number theory, as well as introductory mathematics courses and for mentoring undergraduate research students. The College of Science and Technology, and its departments, have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion through a variety of supported programs and activities, as exemplified by Insight into Diversity’s Inspiring Programs in STEM award for its Biology Mentoring program.

Required Qualifications: • Ph.D. in mathematics with expertise in algebraic geometry or algebraic topology completed by the date of appointment. • Broad academic record/training in pure mathematics including but not limited to geometry and abstract algebra. • Evidence of strong commitment to excellence in teaching (supported by at least two current letters of recommendation attesting to recent teaching effectiveness). • Evidence of capacity/potential for continued scholarly activity. • Must be interested in involving undergraduate students in research. • Evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Successful interview. • Successful teaching demonstration. • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications: • Evidence of teaching effectiveness. • Preparation and/or experience in teaching pure mathematics courses including but not limited to geometry, abstract algebra, and number theory, as well as introductory mathematics courses. • Demonstrated commitment to scholarly activity in geometry/topology. • Potential for service or contributing to the department’s programs.
