A Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics or statistics, bioengineering or bioinformatics is required; postdoctoral experience is desired. We seek a talented educator who has an established research record and is interested in educational pedagogy and assessment. The qualified applicant will demonstrate a proven record of mentoring students and will also have experience in teaching high-quality undergraduate courses (particularly classes in linear algebra, calculus and/or biology). Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required, as is the ability to work collaboratively across the Departments and the School of Engineering. The director will provide support for engineering students by overseeing our proctoring and tutoring efforts, summer bridge program, as well as teaching one course per semester.

The Cooper Union is located in the heart of New York City, and is a highly selective, primarily undergraduate institution offering degrees in engineering, art and architecture. The Student Success Center is housed within The Albert Nerken School of Engineering, which includes approximately 500 engineering students majoring in chemical, civil, electrical, mechanical and general engineering. The Cooper Union is home to the Maurice Kanbar Center for Biomedical Engineering; the Institute for Sustainable Design; and the Center for Signal Processing, Communications and Computer Engineering Research.
