Position Description

Assistant Professor – (Mathematics or Statistics) 

 

The Department of Mathematics within the College of Arts and Sciences at Creighton University is hiring for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2025. The successful applicant will have a PhD in Mathematics or Statistics by the hiring start date, will teach foundational mathematics/statistics courses and advanced courses in their subdiscipline (including the opportunity to teach courses within our data science major), will be expected to maintain an active research program (including the incorporation of undergraduates), and engage in service within the framework of a primarily undergraduate institution.


The normal teaching load is three courses each semester. The average class size is approximately 25 students, with grader and TA support, and it is common for pre-tenure faculty to have no more than two course preps per semester. The department/college also provides robust professional development support, including for conference travel and the support of undergraduate researchers.

 

Qualifications 

·       A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics (or a closely related field) is required. 

·       Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision making in support of their goals, success, wellness, and needs. 

·       Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop rapport quickly and effectively with a diversity of populations. 

·       Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others.
