Position Description

Purpose of Position The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of North Dakota seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching assistant professor contingent on available funding.

Duties & Responsibilities The successful applicant will receive a contract with an approximate distribution of 95% teaching and 5% service effort. UND and the College of Arts & Sciences value diverse perspectives and seek applicants who are committed to helping students from underrepresented backgrounds succeed.

Teach 100- and 200-level undergraduate courses in mathematics, including on-campus (in-person) courses and term-based online courses

Work collaboratively with other Mathematics & Statistics Department faculty to achieve consistent and high-quality learning environments

Required Competencies Excellent written and oral communication skills The ability to teach and inspire students Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Mathematics & Statistics Competent in using technology and the ability to adopt new tools for both on-campus and online course delivery

Minimum Requirements Earned M.S. in Mathematics by August 15, 2026 Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.
