The
College of Mathematical Medicine in ZJNU is located in Jinhua and Hangzhou
City, which are recognized as the most livable cities in China, and offer a
rich cultural environment in a picturesque setting. The College is the first
academic establishment of interdisciplinary studies in China, on the dimension
of ‘mathematical medicine’ which was first proposed by Prof. Kong Dexing, Dean
of the college. The college is seeking to integrate knowledge across different
research disciplines and fields of mathematical sciences, engineering and
healthcare. It aims to develop innovative mechanisms and breakthroughs in mathematical
methods, data science and artificial intelligence, particularly with
applications to diagnosis, therapy and monitoring of human diseases, and
deliver technical innovations in specialized diagnosis and treatments for smart
healthcare. Leveraging two national research platforms in medicine and health,
the college pioneeringly initiates undergraduate and graduate programs in 4
interdisciplinary fields of study, including medical image analysis and
processing, big data in medicine and informatics, intelligent chip and
intelligent sensing and medical imaging and intelligent diagnosis. Motivated by
its core values of interdisciplinarity, integration, innovation and excellence,
the college is committed to facilitating scientific research and promoting innovative
