The Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the theoretical immunology group led by Dr. Sanket Rane. The successful candidate will work directly with Dr. Rane to investigate the dynamics of the immune system in both health and disease using computational, mathematical, and statistical approaches. This is a full-time, benefitted position with an initial one-year appointment and the possibility of renewal for a second year, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding availability. Funds are available to support conference travel and professional development. Duties & Responsibilities: • Successful candidates will develop and refine computational, mathematical, and statistical models to understand and explain biological phenomena. • Create algorithms to integrate large and diverse datasets into theoretical frameworks for modeling complex biological systems. • Collaborate closely with leading experts in the fields of experimental immunology and computational biology. • Contribute to the generation of impactful research findings in applied math, statistics, and immunology, with potential applications to areas such as cancer research, cell biology, and ecology. • Present research at meetings and write manuscripts and grants. Required Competencies: • Ph.D. in applied mathematics, data science, statistics, computational biology, or a related field. • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including but not limited to Python, R, C++, Stan, etc. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • A demonstrated interest in immunology, cancer research, cell biology, or ecology is advantageous, though not mandatory. Minimum Requirements: • Ph.D. in a relevant field. • Programming proficiency. • The ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Qualifications: • Ph.D. in applied mathematics, bioinformatics, or computer science, plus prior experience applying these skills to biology or related fields. • Publications that demonstrate expertise in areas related to this project. • Immunology knowledge or the willingness to learn it quickly.
