| The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montana Tech is pleased to announce an opening for an Assistant Professor in the field of Mathematics. Montana Technological University, a regionally accredited college in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, primarily offers degrees in the sciences and engineering. The Mathematical Sciences Department offers undergraduate majors in Mathematics (with options in applied mathematics and statistics) and Data Science. The normal teaching load is 9 credits per semester. The primary duties of the position are to teach courses in mathematics. Additional responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, advising mathematics majors, overseeing undergraduate research projects, and other service to the department. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• PhD in Mathematics awarded by August 2023
• Ability to teach a wide variety of mathematics courses within the current curriculum
REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Effective oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous teaching experience in college level mathematics
• Evidence of effective teaching
• Experience using mathematics software (e.g. Maple, Matlab, Mathematica) in research or instruction
• Ability to contribute to the Data Science Program
