Open Positions in Mathematics at Dalian University of Technology

General Information

The School of Mathematical Sciences at Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is a dynamically expanding hub for mathematical research and education in China. Our research covers the core disciplines of modern mathematics, with robust established strength and numerous active research teams in

l pure mathematics, including Operator Theory and Operator Algebras, Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Topology and Geometry, algebra, etc.

l applied mathematics, including Partial Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems, Combinatorics and Graph Theory, Biomathematics, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, etc.

l computational mathematics, including Numerical Approximation and Numerical Algebra, Optimization and Control, Intelligent Computing and Numerical Solutions of Differential Equations, etc.

l a range of other related fields.

Recruitment Positions

In 2026, we  plan to hire

l 2 Professors

l 4 Associate Professors 

l 2 Assistant Professor  

l 10 Outstanding Postdoc  

All fields of mathematics will be considered. All these positions come with competitive salaries and benefits (for details, see the form below).

Teaching Duties

l Professor/Associate Professor: Annual teaching load of 96 class hours, including a minimum of 32 class hours for undergraduate courses.

l Assistant Professor: 1–2 courses per semester.

l Postdoc: No teaching duty.

Remark: For all faculty positions, significant research achievements lead to teaching load reduction, as outlined in the appointment offer.

Common Assessment & Career Development

n For faculty position 

l Initial six-year contract with detailed 6-year work plans to be negotiated and confirmed with the school prior to employment;

l A mid-term evaluation to be conducted in the 3rd year to monitor progress and provide guidance;

l Tenure evaluation in the  6th year and permanent position upon passing.

n For Postdoc 

l 2-3 year contract with defined research outputs;

l Opportunity  to  apply for the  faculty positions at DUT.

Further Criteria  

n Professor

l Internationally recognized research achievements and leadership potential in relevant mathematical fields;

l Preferably under 40 years old;

l Candidates with valid selection proof for the The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) will be directly appointed to the Professor position.

n Associate Professor

l Strong research record and high potential for innovation in areas such as Analysis, Mathematical Modeling, Operations Research, Data Science, Numerical Computing, etc;

l Preferably under 35 years old.

n Assistant Professor

l Ph.D. in Mathematics;

l Promising research trajectory and a well-defined research agenda;

l Preferably under 32 years old.

n Postdoc

l Ph.D. obtained within the past three years; solid research foundation in any mathematical or statistical discipline;

l Preferably under 30 years of age;

l Demonstrated academic rigor and team spirit;

l Fulfill defined research outputs during the 2–3 year contract period.
