Texas Southern University (www.tsu.edu) was founded in 1927 and is a comprehensive university, offering undergraduate and graduate programs and professional studies. TSU is a four-year special purpose institution of higher education dedicated to providing quality instruction, scholarly research, and socially responsible public service. Currently, it has more than 9,000 students and 1,500 faculty and staff in 11 colleges and schools. TSU is located in Houston, a vibrant metropolitan area. The Department of Mathematical Sciences (https://mathematics.tsu.edu/), one of the largest instructional units in the University, offers the BS degree and MS degree in Mathematics, and provides major support to the overall undergraduate curriculum at TSU. The curriculum includes academic preparation for graduate studies, mathematical education and careers related to data science. The department has been successful in preparing undergraduate mathematics majors for M.S. and Ph.D. programs in mathematics or science related fields.
