Position Description

The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Data Science at Texas Lutheran University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The appointment will begin in August 2026. 

Position Overview: 
We seek a passionate educator who is committed to excellence in teaching and has a strong foundation in applied mathematics and statistics. This role involves serving on university committees, engaging with a diverse student body, and pursuing research. 

Required Qualifications: 
  • A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered if their degree will be completed by August 2026. 
  • Expertise in statistics. 
  • Ability to teach a range of courses (12 credit hours per semester) with a focus on undergraduate applied math and statistics. 
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. 

 Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Research experience and publication. 
  • Competence with technological tools for teaching and research, such as Maple, Mathematica, SageMath, Python, Jupyter, R/RStudio, MATLAB, and LaTeX. 
  • Expertise and/or professional experience in the field of data science. 
  • Ability to mentor undergraduate students in research activities.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Texas Lutheran University consists of a collegial group of six faculty members all dedicated to the preparing our students with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in an increasingly quantitative world. Our department offers bachelor's degrees in computer science and mathematics.
