Job Title: Research Associate in Mathematics

Pure Mathematics Section, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Natural Sciences

Location: South Kensington Campus

Salary Range: £41,593 - £43,376 per annum*

Job Summary

The position is funded by the Royal Society and you will work on a problem related to the analysis of singular stochastic PDEs or other space-time stochastic processes. The concrete problem(s) will be determined after discussion with the successful candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities

You are also expected to contribute to the academic life of Professor Hairer’s research group and the wider stochastic analysis group at Imperial, in particular to interact scientifically with other research staff and students, as well as organise and participate in seminars.

You will hold a PhD or equivalent level of professional qualifications and a successful research track record in an area closely related to the analysis of stochastic PDEs or other stochastic processes.

Essential Requirements

The essential requirements for this post are as follow:

• Hold (or be near completion of) a PhD in Mathematics, or equivalent level of professional qualification • Experience of research in probability theory and / or analysis • Original research results in a closely related area • A broad and strong background in probability theory / analysis / PDEs • Ability to carry out original research and to produce published research papers • Ability to identify, develop and apply new concepts, techniques and methods

Further Information

The position is fixed term for 12 months. The expected start date is 1 September 2022 or soon thereafter.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the Level A salary range, £36,694 - £39,888 per annum.
