Position Description

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a permanent position at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor beginning in August 2024.  This is a non-tenure-track position with a promotional ladder leading to the rank of Instructional Professor. The successful applicant will be expected to teach four courses per semester.  These will be mostly undergraduate major courses, some of which may be taught in an online format. While this is primarily an instructional position, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the department. This may include advising undergraduate students, serving on academic committees, and participating in recruiting and orientation events.

 


About the Department of Mathematics

The Mathematics Department consists of eighteen tenured/tenure-track professors, two instructional and three visiting professors, twelve instructors, and about 30 graduate students. For more information, see https://math.olemiss.edu/.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics or a related field, earned no later than August 15, 2024 is required. Competitive candidates will have demonstrated teaching ability, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an energetic commitment to undergraduate education.
