ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

Manhattan College, Riverdale, NY

Scope

The Computer Science Department at Manhattan College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in fall 2023.

The department would be interested in candidates having an expertise in cybersecurity or game development, but all candidates having an expertise and strong research agenda in any area of computer science will be considered.

The department offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in Computer Science and M.S. degree in Computer Science. The B.S. program in Computer Science is ABET accredited. The current computer science faculty have background and expertise in cloud computing, operating systems, neural networks, image processing, machine learning, data mining, medical informatics, and cryptography.

Responsibilities The candidate should be able to teach a broad range of core computer science undergraduate and graduate courses. It is expected that the candidate will develop original undergraduate and graduate elective courses in his/her area of expertise and will be able to supervise master theses/projects. The candidate is expected to be an active scholar involving students in his/her research projects. The candidate is expected to participate in program assessment, student advising, academic committees and community service. Qualifications The candidate should have a PhD in Computer Science. An ABD candidate may be considered if Ph.D. is earned prior to start date of fall 2023. The candidate must present evidence of excellence in teaching and an active research program.
