The Department of Mathematical Sciences are looking to enhance and broaden their current strengths in the mathematical and computational aspects of data science and would welcome your application if you are a mathematician with experience working any area of data science including, but not limited to:

* machine learning * neural networks * compressed sensing * imaging and inverse problems * network science * optimisation * uncertainty quantification * numerical linear algebra * statistical and stochastic methods * financial mathematics and data science applied to finance

About you:

You should be able to demonstrate your potential for achieving and sustaining a leading research programme, and to be active in developing and submitting competitive applications for external funding. You should also have a commitment to pursuing excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and in supervising graduate students. We expect you to contribute to the teaching of programming and data science units.

You will be expected to develop a research programme that will integrate into one or more of the existing research groups in the Department: AGeNT (Algebra, Geometry and Number Theory), Analysis and PDEs, ProbL@B (Probability Laboratory at Bath), Statistics, AIMS (Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics) and NASC (Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing). You will also be expected to play an important role in the Centre for Mathematics and Algorithms for Data.
