Research Associate in Pure Mathematics £ 34,304 - £38,587 per annum The role The University of Bristol seeks outstanding candidates for a Research Associate in Pure Mathematics, position tenable from 01 January 2022 up to 20 months. The start date can be flexible and changed to a later date with further discussion. The successful candidate will become a member of the Institute for Probability, Analysis and Dynamics within the School of Mathematics in Bristol and will work with Dr Asma Hassannezhad. What will you be doing? This post is funded by the EPSRC New Investigator Grant “Geometric eigenvalue bounds for the Dirichlet-to-Neumann Operator”. There has been a recent surge of interest in the study of the spectral geometry of the Dirichlet-to-Neumann operator. This project will investigate the geometric spectral properties of the Dirichlet to Neumann and its further applications. It builds on some of the recent important progress on eigenvalue comparison theorems and eigenvalue bounds. The project objectives lie in the intersection of Partial (Pseudo-)Differential Equation, Differential Geometry, Geometry of metric-measure spaces, Harmonic Analysis and Microlocal Analysis. You should apply if This job requires the expertise and of a PhD graduate in Spectral Geometry of Elliptic Operators or related areas to conduct research toward the main goals of the project. The successful candidate will be lined managed by Dr Asma Hassannezhad, but also benefit from interacting with the members of the Institute for Analysis, Probability and Dynamics, Institute of Mathematical Physics and the Heilbronn institute for Mathematical Research in the School of Mathematics. Please can we ask you add the vacancy reference number in the subject of the email. Please note that it is the applicant's responsibility to ensure their referees send a letter of reference by email to maths-recruitment@bristol.ac.uk before the closing date 12 December 2021. For the letter reference, we also advise that they mention the vacancy reference number and the applicants name in the email subject. The applications received before the closing date of 12 December 2021 will be given full consideration.
