The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2022. This is a full-time position at the Wausau Branch campus with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate courses in Mathematics, maintaining an active research agenda, and providing service to the university, community, and profession.

JOB DETAILS:

The successful candidate will be able to teach mathematics courses for general education and courses in the core of the Mathematics majors. In addition, scholarly activity, professional growth, and university service are required for retention and tenure. A typical teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. Salary will be commensurate with academic preparation and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in mathematics or related field awarded by August, 2022. Experience and/or demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching. Demonstrated success and/or interest in teaching first- and second-year mathematics courses. Willingness to contribute to an environment that is inclusive, collaborative, and collegial. Three or more years of full-time experience as a faculty member at a university or college will be considered a plus. Desirable candidates should have experience teaching with current educational tools and methods. Experience teaching diverse groups will be considered a plus, as will experience and/or demonstrated commitment to online or hybrid course delivery to more than one campus and/or to advanced students in out-lying high schools. 

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION: The Department of Mathematical Sciences at UW – Stevens Point offers majors in Mathematics, Mathematics with Actuarial Emphasis, and Mathematics for Teacher Certification. It includes 26 faculty and academic staff across 3 campuses with about 70 majors and 40 minors.
