Position overview

The Mathematical Sciences Institute is seeking to appoint one or two postdoctoral researchers at Level A.

This position is funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery project “Geometry of character varieties.” The primary aim of the position is to carry out the research programme proposed in the Discovery project. This will be done in collaboration with Ian Le and Uri Onn and a range of Australian and international collaborators.

The projects involve the study of character varieties, their geometry and cohomology, and representation zeta functions, using ideas from cluster algebras, mirror symmetry, and number theory. Further details of the proposed projects can be obtained upon request to ian.le@anu.edu.au, and uri.onn@anu.edu.au.

Applicants are expected to have an outstanding record in research relative to opportunity, in a field directly relevant to the project mentioned above.

The ARC grant provides for some funding for international travel for successful applicants to attend conferences and workshops, and to conduct collaborative research with international colleagues.
