The Science and Mathematics Faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic campus at Arizona State University invites applications for an Applied Mathematics Instructor position for the 2019-2020 academic year. The successful candidate will teach mathematics courses; work alongside mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics faculty in order to provide students with a solid set of mathematics, computational, and statistical skills appropriate to their chosen major. Course assignments are at the graduate/undergraduate levels, and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid) on the Polytechnic campus. The course load is determined by the faculty head and typically consist of five classes per semester. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Salary is competitive commensurate with experience. Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate. For more information, please visit

Required Qualifications:

 Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics or closely related field at time of appointment

 Experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level

 Evidence of teaching effectiveness

 Excellent English written and spoken communication skills

 Stated commitment to meeting the needs of diverse student populations and/or reaching out to diverse communities

Desired Qualifications:

 Terminal degree in Applied Mathematics or closely related field at time of appointment

 Experience teaching courses from college algebra through third-semester calculus, and differential equations/linear algebra

 Experience using technology in your daily teaching of mathematics

 Experience implementing course management systems such as Canvas and online homework systems

 Experience working in a collaborative environment within and across disciplines

 Demonstrated service to the profession
