Position Summary: We invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with the College of Natural & Health Sciences in the Department of Mathematics. The position carries a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester as well as advising, scholarship and service. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, or closely related field by the time of appointment in August 12, 2019, (or ABD with completion date by December 31, 2019).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Teaching curricula that prepare undergraduates to integrate mathematics for elementary, middle level, and secondary level education. -Facilitate in mathematics education program development and assessment. -Effectively advise students. -Direct undergraduates in research projects or experiential learning. -Clinical supervision of students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Knowledge – command of academic discipline and teaching pedagogy -Skills – organization, leadership, communication -Abilities – responsive, collegial

Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in mathematics education, mathematics, or closely related field (or ABD with expected completion by December 31, 2019).

Preferred Qualifications: -At least three years as a practicing K-12 educator in mathematics. -Evidence of effective teaching of Secondary Mathematics. -Understanding of the implementation of Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. -Evidence of scholarly activity. -Evidence of successful teaching in higher education. -Experience using technology in higher education and/or K-12 to increase student learning. -Strong academic record in mathematics. -Actively involved in local, state and/or national professional organizations, and serve in a wide range of responsibilities. -Excellent oral & written communication skills What to Submit: Interested candidates should submit a letter of application that addresses the qualifications listed above.
