Position Description

The Mathematics & Statistics Department at Bucknell University invites applications for two Visiting Assistant Professor positions. These two-year appointments will begin August 1, 2026. We welcome applicants from all areas of mathematics; qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field, and a strong commitment to teaching.

In the cover letter, please address how you see this position at a primarily undergraduate institution fitting into your teaching and research trajectory over the next few years. Your teaching letter should include how your experiences, knowledge, skills, and/or past accomplishments will contribute to equitable and inclusive teaching, broadly defined as including classroom instruction, advising, mentoring, and other educational experiences. Bucknell is about three hours from Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.
