Applications are invited for two positions with the title of Postdoctoral Research Associate in Arithmetic Geometry in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics. Successful applicants will join the team of Professor Jack Thorne, working on topics related to the ERC-funded project 'Modularity and Reciprocity: a Robust Approach', potentially including the deformation theory of Galois representations and the cohomology of arithmetic groups and of Shimura varieties. Role holders will be expected to plan and manage their own research and administration, with guidance if required. They will be expected to take an active role within the research group, including assisting in the development of graduate student research skills as well as participation in and planning/delivery of seminars and conferences relating to the research area. Successful candidates will have completed (or nearly completed) a Ph.D. degree in mathematics and have relevant background knowledge in arithmetic geometry and the theory of automorphic forms.
