The Department of Mathematics and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College invites applications for postdoctoral appointments to be affiliated with the Jack Byrne Academic Cluster in Mathematics and Decision Science, to start as early as July 1, 2023.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work interdisciplinarily with faculty hired through the cluster — Dimitris Giannakis (Mathematics), Peter Mucha (Mathematics), and James Smith (Tuck) — as well as other faculty in data and decision science across the College. Specific areas of research interest include but are not limited to climate monitoring and forecasting, decision analysis and dynamic programming, dynamical systems, and network science applications in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

Applicants must hold (or expect to hold by the start date of their appointment) a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or a related field. Successful applicants are expected to be no more than 3 years past their doctorate. Applicants must demonstrate relevant previous research experience. The ideal candidate will have a background related to one or more of the collaborative research areas described above as well as a keen interest in and experience with interdisciplinary collaboration.

The postdoctoral appointee could have the opportunity to teach one or two ten-week courses in the Mathematics Department, contingent on course availability and teaching qualifications. Salary will be adjusted accordingly and set by the Associate Dean of the Arts and Sciences Division.

Dartmouth College, a member of the Ivy League and the Association of American Universities (AAU), is located in Hanover, New Hampshire (on the Vermont border). The Department of Mathematics (http://www.math.dartmouth.edu) is home to 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, as well as visiting faculty and postdoctoral fellows. The Department of Mathematics is in the School of Arts and Sciences and has a strong Ph.D. program and outstanding undergraduate majors in Mathematics and in Mathematical Data Science. The Tuck School of Business, founded in 1900, is ranked consistently among the top ten U.S. business schools with approximately 50 tenured and tenure-track faculty with wide-ranging interests and expertise.

The postdoctoral positions are intended for two to three years, with an initial one-year appointment renewable contingent upon performance.
