The postdoctoral appointment is for two years; subject to additional funding, it may be renewed for one year. The anticipated starting date is August 2026.Overview. The postdoctoral associate is expected to engage in research at the interface of mathematics, data analysis, and life sciences. Possible research topics include mathematical modeling of microtubule dynamics in neuronal cells, analysis and simulation of RNA transport and organization in developing cells, and parameter inference and identifiability for biophysics experiments. The work will be performed in a cross-disciplinary setting, with possibilities for collaboration with researchers in cell biology, developmental biology, and biophysics. The postdoc will have the opportunity to co-mentor graduate and undergraduate students and to support in organizing mathematical biology seminars and activities at Duke Math. The postdoctoral associate will teach one course per semester in the Department of Mathematics.
Qualifications. The postdoctoral associate must hold a PhD in mathematics, mathematical/computational biology, or a closely related discipline awarded before August 1st, 2026. Applicants with experience in mathematical modeling, dynamical systems, applied PDEs, analysis and simulation of stochastic processes, data calibration, and/or uncertainty quantification are encouraged to apply.
