Harbin Institute of Technolgy, Institute of Advanced Study in Mathematics of HIT

The Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) was founded in 1920. At the founding of the People’s Republic of China, HIT was one of the first two universities that were modeled after universities in the former Soviet Union. After nearly 100 years, HIT has developed into a nationally renowned research university, offering degrees in science, engineering, management, arts, economics and law. HIT was among the first group of universities included in the “211 Project” and the “985 Project” of China. Also, it consistently focuses on national priorities and on the frontiers of research. The Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (IASM) was founded in 2016 and has been amply supplied with both human and financial resources, as well as policy support. IASM is based on the study of pure mathematics, and is also committed to promoting interdisciplinary research at the interface of mathematics, physics and engineering. Finally, it will break down barriers between basic and applied research, unifying them to create strong, efficient, multivariate teams of scientists. IASM intends to propel the scientific disciplines of HIT into a new era, play a vital role in the overall development of HIT, and to make substantial contributions to solidify its status as a global first-class university. The permanent faculty of IASM will be cultivated and selected from talented and promising young researchers. Meanwhile, the institute will also recruit a number of well-established professors as chief scientists. All members will be provided with internationally competitive compensation and benefits according to their academic level and personal experience. For more information, see im.hit.edu.cn
