Brown University, Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM)

The COVID-19 crisis has greatly restricted the number of entry-level faculty positions in the mathematical sciences. In response, the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) will offer supplemental one-year postdoctoral positions to start September 2021, funded through its core NSF award.

These positions are structured like ICERM’s existing Institute Postdocs. They may not be held in conjunction with an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship or similar awards. Fellows should not hold positions at or be on leave from other institutions during their tenure.

Eligibility requirements will be similar to other ICERM postdocs, including the limitation that recipients must have received their PhD within three years of their start date - from May 2018. Recipients should work in the general research area of an ICERM semester program held since fall 2016 or planned for future years.  Applicants must identify an organizer or senior participant of such a program as a potential mentor. ICERM staff will contact the mentor only for short-listed candidates.

For full consideration: Applicants must submit an AMS Standard Cover Sheet, cover letter, curriculum vitae (including publication list), research statement, and three letters of recommendation addressing the candidate’s research. Please indicate your prospective mentor as a contact on your cover sheet. (There is no need to seek a commitment from a mentor prior to applying.) Priority will be given to applications received before April 1, 2021.
