Position Description

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at NC State University invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position. While preference will be given to early-career scholars (Assistant or Associate Professor), exceptional candidates at the Full Professor level will also be considered. The position aligns with the College of Engineering’s Applied AI Initiative and focuses on advancing research in Artificial Intelligence, Optimization, and Quantum Computing—areas critical to the department’s mission and of national importance.

Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain an externally funded research program in AI, Quantum Computing, Optimization, or related areas. Conduct original, high-impact research and publish in leading journals and conferences. Collaborate across disciplines within NC State and with external partners to address complex engineering challenges. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Mentor and advise graduate students, fostering their academic and professional growth. Contribute to departmental, college, and university service activities that support NC State’s mission and values.
