A full-time teaching load in this position is the equivalent of 4 standard courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters, with an annual salary of $64,000. Appointments are for one academic year and may be renewable up to a maximum of three years total, depending on departmental teaching need and college approval.Applications are sought from candidates who have:
- a commitment to engaged student learning in undergraduate mathematics education, including the use of student-centered, evidence-based instructional practices;
- experience as primary instructor of introductory mathematics courses;
- excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
Visiting faculty will often work in a team setting with several instructors contributing to a single course. In addition to teaching lecture portions of courses, visiting faculty may also supervise graduate teaching assistants assigned to these classes, develop new curricula, and engage in other professional activities and services. The department has a history of collaboration with campus partners such as the Center for Teaching, the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology, and the Office of Academic Success and Retention.
