The Department of Mathematics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) invites applications for a 2-year

Postdoc position

as part of the research group in Geometric Group Theory and Complex Geometry run by JProf. Dr. Claudio Llosa Isenrich. The starting date for the advertised position is October 2023. Payment is according to the wage agreement of the civil service TV-L of salary level E13. Teaching duties comprise four hours per week during the teaching period (mid-October to mid-February and mid-April to end of July).

We are particularly interested in candidates whose research interests lie in geometric group theory and its interactions with related areas. Current research interests of group members include hyperbolic and non-positively curved groups and their subgroups, finiteness properties of groups and spaces, Dehn functions, the large-scale geometry of nilpotent groups, and fundamental groups of compact Kähler manifolds.

You have the opportunity to become an associated fellow in the DFG Research Training Group “Asymptotic Invariants and Limits of Groups and Spaces” (RTG 2229) funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and jointly run by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Heidelberg University. You can thus benefit from the RTG’s funding possibilities as well as from its intensive guest and qualification program.

Applications should be received by June 22, 2023. However the position will remain open until a suitable candidate has been identified.

Please submit your application as a single pdf file to claudio.llosa@kit.edu. Applications should include a cover letter, CV, research statement, and a list of publications and preprints.
