The Emmy Noether Junior Research Group "Smoothings from log resolutions and applications" at Leibniz University Hannover announces a

PhD position (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 75%) in Algebraic Geometry

The initial appointment will be for 3 years. The starting date should be between April 2026 and October 2026.

A key goal of the project will be the investigation of tropical correspondence theorems for curve counts, using toric degenerations of Fano varieties arising from zero-mutable Laurent polynomials. Prior experience in any of these areas as well as an interest in combinatorial and computational methods is welcome, but not required.
