Position Description
Within the project The standard model as a geometric variational problem of Volker Branding funded through the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) there is an open position for a
Postdoc (m/f/d)
at the University of Vienna.
The employment is for two years with a salary of 60.926,60 e gross per year (40 hours/week).
- The project investigates geometric and analytic properties of the critical points of the energy functional arising in the standard model of elementary particle physics.
- There are no teaching obligations.
- You have a PhD in mathematics with a specialization in differential geometry and geometric analysis. In particular, you are familiar with the analysis of geometric partial differential equations.
- Ideally, you have some basic knowledge on mathematical physics, in particular on the mathematical structure of quantum field theory and the standard model of elementary particle physics.
- You have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research crossing the borders between mathematics and theoretical physics.
