A tenure-track position in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Responsibilities include teaching statistics and data science courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing an active research program, and engaging in service to the department and the university. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor may be possible, depending on the record and experience of the candidate.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Statistics or Data Science or related field completed or expected by start date, August 22, 2022.
Teaching experience at the college level.
For the rank of Associate Professor, in addition to the above, six or more years as an Assistant Professor or above in Statistics or Data Science.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
Completed doctorate in Statistics or Data Science at the time of application.
Evidence of high-quality teaching, and interest or experience in student mentorship.
Strong potential for a productive research program in statistics or data science; research that has the potential to leverage interdisciplinary collaborations across the university is desirable.
Strong background in computational analysis.
Background in applied and theoretical statistics.
Background or experience in computer science or effective use of databases.
Record of engagement with or commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in higher education.
For the rank of Associate Professor with tenure, in addition to the above:
A sustained record of research and publication in statistics, data science, or the novel application of such methods to research in other disciplines.
A sustained record of grant submissions or funding.
A record of successful leadership or development of a data science program at the bachelor’s or graduate level.
