Position Description
We would like to invite applications for a one-year postdoctoral position, hosted by the University of Calgary, in forecasting and mathematical modeling for renewable energy.
We are seeking applicants with a strong quantitative background and research experience with real world applications involving high dimensional data. Some key topics of interest include but not limited to: Spatio-temporal processes, extreme value theory, stochastic dynamical systems, hierarchical Bayesian models, optimization, mean field games, and applications of these methods to renewable energy related topics such as atmospheric modeling, wind and solar farm modeling, transmission and generation planning, electricity markets etc.
The earliest possible start date is March 1st, 2026.
<pThis position is a part of PIMS Collaborative Research Group (CRG) in Forecasting and Mathematical Modeling for Renewable Energy, which is an initiative among University of Calgary and the University of Victoria, providing ample opportunities for collaboration and networking.The position can be combined with a sessional instructorship appointment in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, for which the candidates need to apply separately. The sessional teaching corresponds to one or at most two courses. Combined with sessional instructorship the minimum total salary is 57,000 CAD per year plus benefits.
