Position Description
The Department of Mathematics in Penn State's Eberly College of Science is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar beginning Summer 2026. The successful candidate will work with Professor Alberto Bressan in the areas of hyperbolic conservation laws and geometric optimization problems. These include: well-posedness, convergence and error estimates for approximate solutions, analysis of singularities, optimal control, and applications to macroscopic models of traffic flow. Teaching may be required.Education and Experience:
Applicants must have recently completed a Ph.D. and have exceptional research potential. Candidates
will be considered with background in the areas of hyperbolic PDEs and optimization problems.
Expertise in numerical simulations (with Matlab or Python) will be valued.
