Purdue University Department of Mathematics Assistant Department Head As the Assistant Department Head you will oversee day-to-day operations of department of Mathematics academic unit and serve as schedule deputy. You will provide direction for the development and delivery of projects and initiatives. You will also interpret and convey policies and procedures as apply to students/faculty/registration of courses and availability of courses. This role will be 65% administrative and 35% lecturer. Required: • Master's degree in Mathematics or related fields • Four years of experience teaching at the college or university level • High degree of computer literacy including database, spreadsheet, web, programming languages • Ability to multitask, handle interruption, prioritize what is urgent • Be self-motivated, able to organize one's own schedule and workload • Competent at solving problems involving numerous constraints (like Sudoku) • Attention to detail in policy, processes, and decision making • Able to communicate clearly and winsomely as liaison to numerous offices on campus • Gaining familiarity with UniTime, Banner, Cognos, Qualtrics, Brightspace, MylabMath will be important • Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position • A background check will be required for employment in this position • FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime) • Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contributions immediately • Purdue University is an EOE/AA employer.
