Position Description

Description: SLMath will appoint Research Professors in the program Algebraic Combinatorics, which will be held August 16 - December 17, 2027.

Research professorships are reserved for researchers who can make key contributions to the program including the mentoring of postdoctoral fellows.  Research Professorship are awarded only to candidates who will be in residence for at least three consecutive months.

Research professors may receive up to $5,700 per month for reimbursement of local expenses during their visit to SLMath. Members are eligible for support only during their dates of residency while the program is in session.

Deadline: Complete applications, including one letter of recommendation, must be submitted by October 1, 2026.

Note about Letter of Recommendation: SLMath is funded by the National Science Foundation and, as such, must have a transparent selection process. Having a complete dossier for each applicant allows for this. The letter of recommendation need not be elaborate, a succinct paragraph explaining why your participation in the program is desirable is all that is requested. Only one letter is required for Research Professor applications.

Eligibility: Tenured faculty or Emeriti faculty who have received a PhD prior to 2017.
