Position Description
The Berlin Mathematica Research Center MATH+ is hiring two new Junior Research Group Leaders (at Freie Universität Berlin! One position is in Statistical Learning: We are looking for a candidate to establish and lead a research group developing novel mathematical and statistical methodologies for modern data analysis. The position offers a unique opportunity to pursue foundational research at the interface of statistics, machine learning, and applied mathematics. Within the framework of the MATH+ Cluster of Excellence, the group will advance the theoretical understanding of learning from complex, structured, or high-dimensional data and explore principled methods for data-driven modeling, inference, and prediction.
The second positon is in Mathematical Immunology and infection dynamics: We are looking for a candidate to build up and lead a small research team, develop novel models of host–pathogen–immune interactions, integrate experimental and clinical data, and collaborate across mathematics, immunology labs, and public health institutions.
We encourage candidates working on mathematical or computational models of immune system, infection, or disease dynamics in areas such as stochastic or spatial modeling, agent-based frameworks, integration with omics, imaging, or single-cell data, predictive modeling of immunotherapies, vaccination strategies, co-infection dynamics, molecular pathways, or epidemiology of diseases.
